Well on 05/05/05 Logan became a big brother! Cole Michael was born at 7:19am. Logan is loving his little brother! He is always wanting to kiss him. And he says pretty little fingers! It is so sweet. He is having some jealousy issues but that is to be expected. He is a little mad at me and won't really talk to me like he used to. But I know he is adjusting well. He has continued to go to school during the day so that his normal routine would make things easier for him. His Gimmie and Daddo were here last week and now his Grandma Grace is here, so he is getting plenty of needed attention!!

Cole Michael’s Birthstory
05/04/05-
11 a.m. I left work to go to the hospital because I felt like I was leaking amniotic fluid. Travis met me there and we started our adventure! I was hooked to the monitors and checked for leaking. I wasn’t leaking but I was having contractions. They were not anything uncomfortable so we just hung out and chatted to pass the time. When we got to the hospital I was around a 2-3 and 70% effaced. I was checked periodically for about 2 hours. No change in my cervix, but my contractions had started to come more often and stronger. I would say about 5 minutes apart.
1 p.m. The nurse unhooked me and told me to walk around the labor and delivery floor for 30 minutes, come back and she would check me again. I had to stay on that floor just in case my water did break! So after 30 minutes of laps I went back. My cervix was now around a 3. Not good. They said you are in the early stages of labor. Go home, walk, take a bath, and I know we will see you back sometime tonight. So around 2-2:30 p.m. Travis and I went home. Of course I was now having contractions every 3-5 minutes but they were still very bearable.
I spent the afternoon relaxing on the couch. I took a brisk walk around the neighborhood and a long relaxing bath. We picked Logan up from school and took him to the park because I knew this would be my last time to play with my baby alone. I even played on the equipment with him.
We had already called my folks right before we got released from the hospital so they could start their 5 hour drive and be here for Logan when we went back to the hospital.
9 p.m. My parents made it in around 8:30 p.m. and my contractions were starting to get very painful. I had to breathe through many of them. My mom said “ok let’s go to the hospital again…
9:30 p.m. I am just barely a 3-4 after laboring all day. The nurse said that Cole’s head was not hitting my cervix just right so it wasn’t opening exactly like it should. So I stayed hooked up to the monitors. Contractions were now 2-3 minutes apart and getting really uncomfortable.
11 p.m. I was checked again and was the same. The nurse called my doctor and he said to send me home with a sleeping pill. I was in so much pain by now; there was no way my mom was going to let us leave that hospital. We live 30 minutes away with no traffic! My mom said what happens if we refuse to leave the hospital? The nurse said that we could glad walk around the hospital if that made us happy. So I got dressed and we went down stairs and I did laps around the cafeteria. Stopping at every contraction because I was hurting.

1 a.m. We head back up to labor and delivery and beg the nurse to check me again. I am a 4 with a little help from her. Let’s just say it was a painful exam!! (We think she is feeling sorry for me!) So I am allowed to stay hooked up to the machine for more monitoring.
3:30 a.m. Doctor finally lets me be admitted to the hospital!! I am in some major pain now with contractions coming about every 2 minutes.
4:00 a.m. I am taken to my room and given an epidural! What a relief! Along with the epidural came some sleepy medicine and of course a little pitocin because my contractions had slowed.
7:00 a.m. I am checked again and I am 10cm with a bulging bag of water. The doctor better get here quick!!
7:09 a.m. The doctor breaks my water and I begin to push.
7:19 a.m. Cole Michael makes his grand appearance after 4 pushes, weighing 8 pounds 2 ounces and 20 inches long! My little Cinco De Mayo Baby!!Comments:Add a comment:
